Minimalist House Slippers

I'm not quite sure what to make of these slippers. They're very... weird.

First things first, these are the very definition of minimalist, a single piece of leather folded over and fashioned into a vague slipper shape. They look and feel pretty awesome, with the smooth face of the leather on the inside and the slightly rougher backing on the outside. Each pair comes with a leather keyring and a piece of card with the name of the maker and the country of origin handwritten. It's a nice touch, and the reason I can imagine these things making for a unique and thoughtful gift.

Now, the comfort. I only opened the package about half an hour ago so I'm basing this on first impressions, but right now I'm thinking these are great slippers for when you want to *stay in the same place*. When I'm just sitting down they're a nice, comfortable extra layer above my socks, but for walking they're pretty useless right now. I've tried them barefoot, with thin dress socks and thick winter socks, but with each they really want to slip off my feet. I have to adopt an odd sliding walk to keep them on.

Maybe the issue is that they're a little oversized. I ordered size 9-10 and I wear a 9.5, but the back of the slippers extend about an inch beyond my heel and they feel a little loose around the toes. If they were a little smaller they may stay on a little easier. Maybe they'll stick a little better as I rough up the surface, or maybe they'll mold to my feet a little better with time. Who knows?

I'm giving these slippers four stars because I really like the idea of them, the presentation and the look. If I were judging them purely on functionality I wouldn't be nearly as generous.

These are not what I'm used to. I'm used to fluffy, well padded bedroom shoes. The product listing does not say these are bedroom shoes, so I won't ding it any stars. I love my comfort, but these are just the thickness of the suede leather they are made of. My son is a different story... He glommed onto them as soon as he saw them. HE likes them! Different strokes for different folks, I guess. They are handmade. The stitching is impeccable, and the leather is definitely real leather. Made in Guatemala, it comes with a hand written card showing who made it and where the leather came from. Nice!

If you're looking for minimalistic, this is it besides being barefoot. If you're looking for any support, you're not going to get it from a piece of leather. It feels like those temporary disposable saddles after getting a pedicure. I personally think these a great for around the house. No problem with slippage on hard floors or them sliding off my feet. Comes with a little card that names the person who hand built them and where they are located. I typically wear a 9-9.5 but I got a 7-8 and they fit perfectly.

These are interesting slippers - just a piece of leather that’s rolled into foot shape. Obviously, not comfortable - you just have something to put your feet in, to not walk barefoot. True to size and fit well. Great for travel given how little space they take. However, not for cold nights or for those who look for comfort in their slippers.

I'm absolutely obsessed with these slippers. They are essentially just a thick piece of leather folded over on itself. I personally love the feeling of this. It feels like i'm walking barefoot, which i love.

I love that these are made in small batches, and the makers signs their name on an accompanying card. It feels cool to be supporting these artisans.

The quality is fantastic.

Definitely recommend.
