Very pleased with the materials and craftsmanship. The oiled canvas is has a great feel to it, stiff but not too much. You can tell it's handmade and that's a good thing. It's already started to take on a patina and develop character. Great price for this essential piece!

I got this cover to fill with watercolor paper ("perfect" bound with glue to create a watercolor sketchbook). I have purchased a few of the leather covers, but there's something I really like about this canvas.

It's waxed canvas, so marks will appear (white scratch marks on/in the wax), but I imagine they can be buffed out or rewaxed. The leather had scratched easily, and I like not having to worry about the canvas as much as the leather. I like the bumpy/grippy texture. It stays nice and flat when I open it, and it has enough structure to stay closed when closed (it doesn't feel flimsy). It fits an Art Toolkit Demi Palette and a Pentel Aquash mini brush (cap side in pocket) in the pocket, as well as a binder clip on the paper and a pen or pencil in the middle. I have a large rubber band (for closure) that I use for when I'm out and about, but it is not necessary when I'm just at home.

It is nice and light, yet sturdy. I can hold it open easily with one hand and write/paint with the other. It fits in the back pocket of my jeans, in my leggings pocket, or in my crossbody purse.

I was tempted to convert this cover to a traveler's notebook style notebook, but the pockets in the cover are more than sufficient enough to hold the sketchbook, notebook, and I could probably get away with a TN/Midori folder in there. I'm sure it would be an easy conversion with some elastics, but the pockets are nice and deep/snug, so I haven't found it necessary to alter anything.

TL;DR simple yet efficient design, nice and sturdy build, feels nice and durable, fits notebooks/inserts well, includes a pocket for pens/tools. I have found that it pairs nicely with the H&D Scribbler Case if I need to carry additional tools, sketchbooks, etc.
