Comfy, but room for improvement.

TL:DR - Not bad at all. Very comfy, very nice aesthetic, but could be improved.

Had this for less than 24 hours, and I just got done shooting about a hundred arrows. Here's my impressions.

First off, it was too tight when it arrived, but I knew it would be. My measurements are just a shade bigger than the listed maximum. BUT, since it is made of good quality leather, I knew I would be able to stretch it out with some proper methods. Sure enough, with some hot water and patience, my thumbs fit nicely and the overall feel is nice and comfortable. I also had to modify the lacing scheme as well, but again, I knew that going into it because I'm a big guy with big arms. I put an elastic string on the front six holes, and the original leather lacing through the rear six. Works just fine... but I would recommend to Valhalla Gear that some brass grommets would not go amiss here. I plan to modify it in the future with a speed-lace setup, as putting it on like a glove is not super comfortable.

In terms of performance: The arm guard section works perfectly. No string slap at all, and since it is integral to the 'glove' portion, it doesn't ride up towards my wrist like other arm guards have done. Full marks. The glove portion works well too, but not as it was intended. As you can see from the pictures, the double-thick pad does very little other than look cool.... at least with the smaller shield or vane fletchings. If you are shooting flu-flu arrows however, it might do more to protect you. But again, as the picture shows, with my arrows at least, all the protection is over the index finger's proximal phalanx. So my second recommendation for Valhalla Gear is to put a small double-thick pad there as well.

Overall, I'm quite happy with this. The only reason for the 4 out of 5 instead of a full 5 is due to the room for improvement in the basic design. Otherwise, this is completely worth it. Happy shooting!

Perfect after some modifications.

This needed some modifying to be perfect, since then it's been great! My husband had to cut some away from the wrist area to allow for more movement and comfort. We wet molded it to a pvc pipe because it was just flat. We added gromets to make it easier to lace and hold up better and switched out the string for something that was easier to pull through.
For us, this product didn't feel all the way done as is. However, the beauty of leather is. You can modify it and tell you're happy with it. Overall a very good product start with.

Good Design, Bad Material

If this had been made with even slightly better leather, it would be perfect for my needs. Unfortunately, between the cheap leather and the bad lacing, I'm going to have to do some work to get it to do what I need it to.

Rough edges, stiff thin leather, and the awful lacing detract what is otherwise a well-cut piece of leatherwork.
